Whitcomb’s General Store

August 7, 2021 //  by Kevin Koehler//  Leave a Comment

Bruce Whitcomb’s father Marshall and grandparents John and Cornelia moved to Rockford from Redwood Falls in the early 1920’s opening a store here. The store was located on the northwest corner of Bridge and Mechanic Street. Notice the angle of the entry into the store, it does not match the entry into what is now ABC Lettering. This building was closer to the river. Looking closely you can see the Rockford Feed Mill on the right. On the left you can see a house, which has since been tore down. Interesting to see the horses tied to the posts.
