In the 1930’s and into the mid-late 1940’s Soo Line ran a passenger train that had Rockford as a regular stop. It was affectionately known as “The Dinky”. It was engine 705 pulling three or so passenger cars. You could buy a fare to Minneapolis traveling to the east or westward as far as Glenwood where there was a turntable enabling engine 705 to make the return trip.
