The year 2025 has been another exciting and rewarding year! The Ames-Florida-Stork House and grounds are looking beautiful with improvements such as the repair and replacement of windows continuing and a newly planted native prairie garden becoming established. We hope you have especially enjoyed seeing the house illuminated at night.

Some of this year’s highlights are:

  • Placed 70 plaques honoring veterans and influential community members buried at Elmwood Cemetery.
  • Over 160 people touring the Ames-Florida-Stork House on Memorial Day.
  • We hosted “Pints for the Past” in April for a very successful fundraiser.
  • Thousand Hearts Serve Day with 20 volunteers improving the grounds.
  • We were fortunate to have 2 summer interns who provided a 2-day Kids Kamp and staffed our office which allowed the house to be open for more tours.
  • Hosting Rockford River Days Bingo and sponsoring the beer tent at Rocktoberfest.
  • To all of this, add over 300 tours to date including tours for 400 Rockford Middle School students and staff resulting in a renewed partnership with Rockford Schools.
  • On December 6th we hosted Crow River Christmas. The house and grounds were decorated and our Letters to Santa mailbox was ready for kids’ letters.

We are grateful for the support we receive through our generous donors, new and returning members (2025 membership hit another all time high with 218 members!), the City of Rockford and our many dedicated volunteers. Thank you!

We have big plans for 2026! Please help us retain and increase this momentum by either renewing your membership or becoming a new member in 2026. It is our members, donors, and many volunteers who are the keys to our success and who take pride in helping to maintain and support our treasured local landmark, the Ames-Florida-Stork House. Your support helps us in our mission of “The collection, preservation, and dissemination of the history of the Rockford Area.” In addition to free tours, each level includes a quarterly newsletter. We ask that your memberships are submitted by January 31, 2026.

Thank you!
