In 2022, we participated in and hosted several events: Memorial Day social gathering with Root Beer Floats and 120 tours, Memorial Day was an opportunity to display 35 signs honoring local figures buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Thousand Hearts Serve Day with 24 volunteers improving the grounds, hosting RiverDays Bingo and sponsoring the beer tent at Rocktoberfest in Rockford. To all of this, add another 218 tours and hosting Crow River Christmas at Stork House plus a very popular ‘Letters to Santa’ drop off site! We held the 2nd Annual Crow River Connections which welcomes surrounding historical groups to attend and bring their displays and photos to share; over 50 were in attendance. Our social media presence is gaining many followers and helps to spread our news. We were fortunate to hire 2 summer interns; the ability to have the house open on many more days was invaluable.

How did all of this happen while still experiencing some challenges? The answer is in the support we receive through our generous donors, new and returning members (2022 membership is at an all-time high with over 114 members!), our many hard-working volunteers and the City of Rockford. Please help us to maintain and increase this momentum in 2023 by either renewing your membership or becoming new members at this time. It is our members, donors and volunteers who are the keys to our success and who take pride in helping to maintain and support our treasured local landmark, the Ames-Florida-Stork House. Your support helps us in our mission of “the collection, preservation and dissemination of the history of the Rockford area.” Please see the levels below; in addition to free tours, each level includes a quarterly newsletter. We ask that your memberships are submitted by January 31, 2022. Thank you!
