Joseph Thomas was born in Wales during 1845 to Anna and Hugh Thomas. The entire family immigrated to the America in 1853. Joseph would marry Sarah Allen while living in Wisconsin where their daughter Jennie was born. Prior to their second child (Frank) being born in 1874 the family moved to Minnesota. The entire family would settle in Wright County south of Crawford Lake prior to 1890.
