
While the 1965 flood was the highest on record, the flood of 1952 flood also displaced many residents and caused significant flooding. Travel by boat was common, as many residents in spite of water in their homes were reluctant to leave. This is looking northwest on Ceder street. The large building on the right was the Rockford City Hall which seemed to always be in the flood area.Just past that is the old fire station which is now the food shelf. The farthest building used to be the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) building, which was then and is now apartments.
