Re-posting a picture published earlier with more details. This is the flour and saw mill that was located on the west side of the river. The woolen mill was on the east. In the background to the right of the Flour Mill you can see the white steeple of the Advent church (now Cross Lutheran) which was on the corner of Walnut and Main Street. I am curious what the small building was in front of it.. Unseen behind the mill and across from the church on Main street would have been the post office. Continuing towards Cherry Street (now Hwy 55) on Main street would have been the Lumber Yard which several of the buildings can be seen on the left side of the photo. Note the low level of the river, leading me to believe that 1901 could have been the year taken. Picture was taken before 1907 when this building burned down.
