Joseph Schaar married Ernestine Steinke May 25, 1881 in Medina, MN. By 1887 they were residing on the Schaar family farm, “Schaar Ranch” just over 3 miles NW of Rockford. Ultimately, the farm passed to their son, John Schaar and his wife Lillie Kettenacker Schaar.
