Free
  • Annual Rockford Area Historical Society Quilt Raffle »

October 3rd Rockford recognizes the original settlers through “Founder’s Day” As a build upon our Memorial Day event the Rockford Area Historical Society will be placing an additional 14 memorial plaques at Elmwood Cemetery honoring both war veterans and individuals who played an important role in this area’s foundation. Read the stories of well known names like Joel Florida, George Ames and D.R. Thompson. But also stop and read the stories of Martha (Hopkins) Parmeter who met with Abraham Lincoln at the White House, or Guilford George who was the mechanical brains behind much of the early manufacturing in Rockford. All signs will be up Friday-Sunday starting September 25th – October 4th.
