2021 Memorial Day – Meet the People

May 21, 2021 - May 31, 2021

  • « 2021 Antique Auto Tour
  • 2021 Memorial Day Open House »

In 2020 due to COVID restrictions the Rockford Area Historical Society was not able to host their annual ice cream social at the  Ames-Florida-Stork house. Efforts were put forth to place additional emphasis on the “Meet the People” plaques at Elmwood cemetery. Over 20 memorial plaques were created from information sourced from our research and families supporting the project. The purpose is to provide additional information to the public about those who served our country in the armed forces or played an instrumental role in the formation of the communities in our area. A special thank you to Thousand Hearts for their work in leading the efforts to do a good spring cleaning at Elmwood cemetery prior to the plaques being placed. The RAHS will have 10 new plaques placed on May 22, 2021, in additional the 20 we have already created.
